Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Mount in a dry, well-ventilated location.

  1. Connect battery first: Ensure battery is 12V; connect positive (+) and negative (-) to controller terminals.
  2. Connect solar panel: Attach PV positive and negative wires to PV input terminals.
  3. Connect load: Attach DC load wires to load output terminals if used.
  4. Connect temperature sensor (optional): Plug into dedicated port.
  5. Power on: Press POWER button; LCD will illuminate.

WARNING! Always connect battery before PV to avoid damage. Ensure all connections are tight and correct polarity.

First-Time Setup

Power on controller; follow on-screen prompts or manual configuration.

  1. Select battery type: Press MENU, navigate to BATTERY TYPE, select Sealed, Gel, Flooded, or Lithium.
  2. Set charging parameters: Adjust absorption voltage, float voltage, and equalization (if applicable) per battery specs.
  3. Configure load control: Set load output mode (Manual, Timer, Dusk-to-Dawn) and low-voltage disconnect.
  4. Set system voltage: Confirm 12V system (factory default).
  5. Set temperature compensation: Enable if sensor connected.

CAUTION! Incorrect battery settings can damage battery. Refer to battery manufacturer specifications.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Access menus via front panel buttons. LCD shows real-time data: PV voltage, battery voltage, charging current, load status.

Button Functions: POWER (on/off), MENU (enter settings), UP/DOWN (navigate/adjust), ENTER (confirm).

Menu Structure: - BATTERY: Type, Absorption Voltage, Float Voltage, Equalization. - LOAD: Mode (Manual/On-Off/Timer), Timer Settings, Low Voltage Disconnect. - SYSTEM: Language, Display Brightness, Temperature Unit, Factory Reset. - INFO: Firmware Version, Error History, Total Power Generated.

Connecting Devices

Battery: Direct connection to terminals. PV: Solar panel to PV input. Load: DC appliances to load output.

  1. Turn off all power sources before making connections.
  2. Use proper wire gauge (minimum 8 AWG for 40A).
  3. Secure connections with appropriate terminals; avoid loose strands.
  4. Connect temperature sensor for accurate charging in variable climates.

Tip: Install an appropriately rated fuse or circuit breaker between battery and controller for added safety.

Operation Modes

Controller manages charging automatically based on battery state and settings.

  1. Bulk Stage: Delivers maximum available current until battery reaches absorption voltage.
  2. Absorption Stage: Holds voltage constant, current tapers, for set time (1-8 hours).
  3. Float Stage: Reduces voltage to maintenance level, preventing overcharge.
  4. Equalization (Flooded only): Periodic controlled overcharge to balance cells.
  5. Load Control: Manages DC load based on mode (e.g., turns lights on at dusk, off at dawn).

WARNING! Do not disconnect battery during charging. Equalization produces gases; ensure ventilation for flooded batteries.

Battery Management

Proper settings extend battery life. Use temperature sensor for accurate voltage compensation. For lithium batteries, disable equalization and set correct voltage limits per manufacturer. Monitor battery state of charge via voltage readings on display.

Care & Maintenance

Keep unit clean and dry. Periodically check terminal tightness. Ensure ventilation is not blocked. Update firmware via USB for performance improvements.

CAUTION! Do not open enclosure. No user-serviceable parts inside. Contact qualified technician for internal issues.
