Installation & Mounting

For optimal performance, install in a location with direct sunlight for at least 6-8 hours daily.

1. Choose Location: Select a sunny spot near your SimpliSafe Outdoor Camera, within 10ft cable reach.
2. Prepare Surface: Ensure mounting surface is clean, dry, and stable (wall, eaves, fence).
3. Attach Mounting Base: Use provided screws/anchors for permanent installation, or use magnetic base for temporary placement.
4. Adjust Angle: Tilt panel to face south (Northern Hemisphere) or north (Southern Hemisphere) for maximum sun exposure.
5. Connect to Camera: Route cable neatly; plug waterproof connector into camera’s charging port until it clicks securely.
6. Secure Cable: Use cable ties (not included) to prevent sagging or damage.

WARNING! Do not install near heat sources, standing water, or where cable can be pinched. Ensure connector is fully seated and weather seal is intact.

Operation & Charging

Once installed, the solar panel operates automatically.

1. Charging Indicator: LED on solar panel shows status:
   • Solid Green: Charging normally (sunlight adequate)
   • Flashing Green: Charging but low light (cloudy/dawn/dusk)
   • Solid Red: Not charging – check connection, sunlight, or camera battery
   • Off: No power – verify installation and sunlight
2. Camera Integration: SimpliSafe camera will recognize solar power and prioritize it over internal battery.
3. Optimal Conditions: Ensure panel is clean and angled toward sun. Performance varies with season and weather.
4. Battery Maintenance: In continuous optimal sun, camera battery should remain above 80%. Monitor via SimpliSafe app.

Tip: In winter or low-light regions, occasional supplemental charging via USB may be needed.

Maintenance & Care

Regular maintenance ensures peak efficiency.

1. Cleaning: Every 2-3 months, wipe panel with soft, damp cloth. Remove dirt, snow, leaves, or bird droppings.
2. Inspection: Periodically check cable for damage, connector seal for integrity, and mounting for stability.
3. Winter Care: Remove heavy snow accumulation gently; avoid abrasive tools that scratch glass.
4. Storage: If removing, store in dry, room-temperature location.

CAUTION! Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or high-pressure water. Disconnect from camera before cleaning.
