First-Time Setup

Fully charge the Waka Waka Solar 20 before first use for optimal performance.

  1. Charge via Solar: Unfold the solar panel and place in direct sunlight. The charge indicator will light up.
  2. Charge via USB-C: Connect the USB-C cable (included) to a wall adapter (5V/2A or higher recommended) and plug into the USB-C port.
  3. Monitor Charge: The four LED indicators will show charging progress. All four LEDs solid indicates full charge.
  4. Activate Output: Press the Power button once to begin charging a connected device.

CAUTION! Ensure the solar panel is clean and facing the sun for maximum efficiency.

Controls and Indicators

Primary control is the Power button. Front Panel: Power button, 4x Battery Level LEDs.

Power Button Functions: Single press (Flashlight On/Off & Cycle Modes), Double press (Activate/Deactivate charging output), Long press 3 seconds (Reset).

LED Indicators: Show internal battery level. 1 LED = 25%, 2 LEDs = 50%, 3 LEDs = 75%, 4 LEDs = 100%. LEDs blink during charging. Solar Charging Indicator: A small sun icon LED lights up when the solar panel is receiving sufficient light and charging the battery.

Charging Devices

Use the USB-A or USB-C port to charge phones, tablets, GPS units, cameras, etc.

  1. Ensure the Waka Waka has sufficient battery charge (check LEDs).
  2. Connect your device using a compatible USB cable.
  3. Press the Power button once to activate the output. The LEDs will show the remaining battery.
  4. Charging will stop automatically when your device is full or when the Waka Waka battery is depleted.

Tip: For fastest charging, use the USB-C port with a compatible device and cable.

Solar Charging

For optimal solar charging, follow these steps.

  1. Unfold: Fully unfold the solar panel and extend the kickstand.
  2. Position: Place in direct, unobstructed sunlight. Angle the panel towards the sun.
  3. Connect: The internal battery will begin charging automatically. Ensure no device is connected if you want to prioritize charging the power bank.
  4. Monitor: The solar charging indicator (sun icon) will be lit. The battery level LEDs will show charging progress.
  5. Time: A full solar charge takes approximately 8-10 hours under ideal conditions.

WARNING! Do not stare directly at the solar panel or reflected sunlight. Do not leave in extreme heat for prolonged periods.

Flashlight Operation

The built-in LED flashlight has multiple modes for different situations.

  1. Turn On/Off: Press the Power button once. The flashlight turns on in High mode.
  2. Cycle Modes: With the flashlight on, press the Power button again to cycle through modes: High -> Low -> SOS -> Strobe -> Off.
  3. SOS Mode: Flashes the international distress signal (three short, three long, three short).
  4. Strobe Mode: Rapid flashing for signaling or emergency.

Runtime: Up to 150 hours on Low mode, 10 hours on High mode from a full battery.

Care & Maintenance

Unfold and clean the solar panel regularly for best performance.

  1. Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the solar panel. For stubborn dirt, use a damp cloth and mild soap. Dry completely.
  2. Storage: Store in a cool, dry place with the battery partially charged (50-70%).
  3. Battery Health: Use the device at least once every 3 months to maintain battery health.
  4. Avoid: Sharp objects, sand, and prolonged exposure to moisture beyond IPX4 rating.

CAUTION! Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents on the solar panel or casing.
