Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Choose a location with direct sunlight for most of the day.

  1. Position the Panel: Select a sunny spot near your camera, free from shadows (leaves, branches).
  2. Mount the Bracket: Use included hardware to secure the bracket to a tree, post, or existing camera mount. Ensure it is stable.
  3. Attach the Panel: Secure the solar panel to the mounted bracket. Adjust the angle to face the sun (typically 30-45 degrees).
  4. Route the Cable: Run the integrated USB cable from the panel to your camera's external power port.

WARNING! Do not install where the cable will be pinched or damaged by animals. Ensure mounting is secure to prevent falling.

First-Time Setup

Connect the solar panel to your powered-on REVEAL camera.

  1. Ensure Camera is On: Your REVEAL camera should be powered on and functioning.
  2. Connect the Cable: Plug the lockable USB connector firmly into the camera's external power port. Twist to lock if applicable.
  3. Verify Connection: The camera may display a power icon or indicator confirming external power source.
  4. Check Positioning: Confirm the solar panel is facing the sun and is not shaded.

CAUTION! Connect and disconnect the cable with care. Do not force the connector.

Specifications

Controls and Connections

The solar panel is a passive device with no user controls. Its primary connection point is the integrated USB cable.

Connections: Integrated USB Output Cable (to camera). Indicator (if present): A small LED may light up when generating power in adequate sunlight.

Mounting Bracket: Allows for tilt adjustment to optimize the panel's angle toward the sun throughout different seasons.

Connecting to Your Camera

Locate the external power port on your REVEAL camera (typically a micro-USB or proprietary port).

  1. Power off the camera before initial connection (recommended).
  2. Align the connector correctly with the camera's port.
  3. Push the connector in firmly until it seats completely.
  4. If it's a locking connector, twist it slightly to secure it.
  5. Power the camera back on. The camera should recognize the external power source.

Tip: Use the cable management features on your camera mount to secure excess cable and prevent snags.

Operation & Charging

The panel operates automatically when exposed to light.

  1. Automatic Charging: When sunlight hits the panel, it converts light to electricity and delivers a trickle charge to the camera's internal batteries.
  2. Battery Maintenance: The charge helps maintain battery level, especially during high activity periods (frequent photos/videos).
  3. Low Light/ Night: The panel does not generate power at night. The camera runs on its internal batteries.
  4. Optimal Conditions: For best results, ensure the panel is clean and receives at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily.

WARNING! This solar panel is designed to extend battery life, not necessarily to charge completely dead batteries. Start with fresh or partially charged batteries in the camera.

Maintenance & Positioning

Seasonal Adjustment: Change the panel's tilt angle seasonally for optimal sun exposure (steeper in winter, shallower in summer). Clear Debris: Regularly remove leaves, snow, and dirt from the panel surface. Cable Check: Periodically inspect the cable for damage or animal chewing.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug from camera before cleaning. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the panel surface. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

CAUTION! Do not submerge the panel or cable in water. Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the anti-reflective coating.
