Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Choose an optimal location with direct sunlight for the solar panel.

  1. Mount the camera: Use included screws and bracket to secure camera to wall or surface.
  2. Position the solar panel: Attach panel to a sunny location using mounting hardware. Ensure cable can reach camera.
  3. Connect solar panel: Plug the solar panel cable into the camera's DC IN port.
  4. Initial charge: Allow the solar panel to charge the camera's internal battery for 6-8 hours before first use.

WARNING! Install at a height of 7-10 feet for optimal motion detection. Ensure mounting surface is stable.

First-Time Setup

Power on camera; follow in-app instructions.

  1. Download the Swann Security app from iOS App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Create an account or log in to your existing Swann account.
  3. Add device: Tap "+" in app, select "SWWHD-INTSOL", and follow prompts to connect camera to your Wi-Fi.
  4. Position camera lens: Adjust angle via bracket for desired field of view in live preview.
  5. Configure settings: Set up motion detection zones, alert preferences, and recording schedule.

CAUTION! Ensure Wi-Fi signal is strong at installation location for reliable connectivity.

Controls and Settings

Primary control is via the Swann Security app. Physical Controls: SYNC/RESET button, MicroSD card slot, DC IN port, Status LED.

App Settings: Device Name, Video Quality (HD/SD), Night Vision (Auto/On/Off), Motion Sensitivity, Activity Zones, Schedule, Alert Preferences (Push/Email), Two-Way Audio, Firmware Update.

SYNC/RESET Button: Press once to enter Wi-Fi pairing mode (LED flashes blue). Press and hold for 10 seconds to factory reset (LED flashes red).

Connecting to Network

Requires 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Wired Ethernet is not supported.

  1. Ensure camera is powered (solar panel connected and battery charged).
  2. In Swann Security app, tap "+" and select your camera model.
  3. Follow in-app instructions to enter your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.
  4. Press the SYNC button on camera when prompted. Wait for connection confirmation.

Tip: Place camera within range of your Wi-Fi router during setup. Avoid thick walls or metal obstructions.

Using the Swann Security App

Core app functions for live monitoring and playback.

  1. Live View: Tap camera thumbnail to see real-time video. Use buttons for snapshot, record, audio on/off.
  2. Playback: Access recorded footage by date/time on timeline. Supports both cloud and MicroSD card playback.
  3. Event List: View all motion-triggered recordings and alerts.
  4. Device Settings: Adjust all camera parameters, manage users, and check system status.
  5. Sharing: Share camera access with family members via app.

WARNING! Protect your app login credentials. Enable two-factor authentication for enhanced security.

Motion Detection & Alerts

Configure PIR sensitivity and alert zones in app.

  1. Open app, go to device settings, select "Motion Detection".
  2. Adjust sensitivity slider (Low/Medium/High).
  3. Draw activity zones: Tap "Activity Zones" to define areas where motion should trigger alerts.
  4. Set schedule: Choose when motion detection is active (e.g., only at night).
  5. Alert preferences: Choose to receive push notifications and/or email alerts.

Note: To reduce false alerts, avoid pointing camera at moving trees or busy roads.

Care & Maintenance

Regularly clean lens and solar panel for optimal performance.

  1. Unplug solar panel cable before cleaning.
  2. Use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe camera lens and solar panel surface.
  3. For stubborn dirt, dampen cloth with water only. Do not use chemicals or abrasive materials.
  4. Check mounting hardware quarterly for tightness.
  5. In snowy conditions, gently brush snow off solar panel to ensure charging.

CAUTION! Do not open camera casing. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
