Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Mount in a dry, well-ventilated location.

  1. Mount the controller: Use provided screws to mount on a vertical surface.
  2. Connect battery first: Ensure battery voltage matches controller rating (12V/24V). Connect positive (+) and negative (-) terminals securely.
  3. Connect PV panels: Connect solar panel array to PV input terminals, observing correct polarity.
  4. Connect load: Connect DC loads to load output terminals if needed.
  5. Connect temperature sensor (optional): Plug into designated port for accurate temperature compensation.

WARNING! Always connect battery before PV panels to avoid damage. Ensure all connections are tight and correct polarity is observed.

First-Time Setup

Power on controller; LCD will display system status.

  1. Set battery type: Press SET button, navigate to battery type menu, select appropriate type (Sealed, Gel, Flooded, LiFePO4).
  2. Set charging parameters: Adjust bulk/absorption voltage, float voltage, and equalization settings as per battery manufacturer specifications.
  3. Set load control: Configure load output mode (Manual, Timer, or Darkness ON).
  4. Set system voltage: Controller auto-detects 12V/24V; verify on display.

CAUTION! Incorrect battery settings can damage battery. Refer to battery datasheet for recommended voltages.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Access settings via buttons on front panel. Buttons: SET, UP, DOWN, ENTER, LOAD ON/OFF.

LCD Display Icons: Battery level, PV input, load status, fault indicators.

Menu Structure: Battery type, Charging voltage (Bulk, Float, Equalize), Load control mode (Manual/Timer/Darkness), System info (Voltage, Current, Energy), Factory reset.

Load Timer: Set ON and OFF times for daily operation. Darkness Mode: Load turns on at dusk, off at dawn based on PV voltage.

Connecting Devices

Battery: Use thick cables (min 6mm²) to minimize voltage drop. PV: Ensure PV open-circuit voltage does not exceed 100V DC. Load: Max load current 30A.

  1. Turn off all power sources before making connections.
  2. Use appropriate cable lugs and tighten terminals to 2.0 N·m.
  3. Connect in order: Battery → PV → Load.
  4. Use external fuse (40A) on battery positive line for safety.

Tip: Keep cable runs as short as possible between battery and controller to reduce power loss.

Operating Modes

Controller operates in Bulk, Absorption, Float, and Equalization modes automatically.

  1. Bulk Mode: Full available current charges battery until voltage reaches absorption setpoint.
  2. Absorption Mode: Voltage held constant at absorption voltage while current tapers.
  3. Float Mode: After absorption, voltage drops to float voltage to maintain battery.
  4. Equalization Mode: Periodic overcharge for flooded batteries to prevent stratification (user configurable).
  5. Load Control: Load can be manually turned on/off or set to timer/darkness mode.

WARNING! Do not disconnect battery while PV is connected and producing power. Always disconnect PV first.

Protection Features

Overcharge Protection: Stops charging when battery voltage exceeds set limit. Over-discharge Protection: Disconnects load when battery voltage drops too low (adjustable). Short Circuit Protection: Automatically cuts off load output in case of short. Reverse Polarity Protection: Protects controller from damage if battery/PV connections are reversed. Over-temperature Protection: Reduces charging current if internal temperature exceeds 80°C.

Care & Maintenance

Periodically check terminal tightness. Clean dust from ventilation slots with dry cloth. Ensure no water ingress.

CAUTION! Do not open enclosure; no user-serviceable parts inside. Contact qualified technician for internal issues.

Troubleshooting

SymptomPossible CauseCorrective Action
No display / not powering onBattery not connected / low voltageCheck battery connections and voltage (min 9V for 12V system).
Not charging from PVPV voltage too low / wrong polarityCheck PV connections, measure PV voltage in sunlight (must be higher than battery voltage).
Load not turning onBattery low / load mode settingCheck battery voltage; verify load control mode setting (Manual vs Timer).
Error code on displayVarious faults (E01-E10)Refer to manual error code list: E01=Over-temperature, E02=Battery overvoltage, etc.
Reduced charging currentHigh temperature / shading on PVEnsure controller is in cool location; check for PV panel shading or dirt.

Reset: Hold SET button for 10 seconds to restore factory defaults (settings will be lost).
