Safety Precautions

Read all warnings before installation. Ensure power is disconnected at the circuit breaker.

  1. Electrical Safety: Turn OFF power at the circuit breaker before wiring. Verify with a voltage tester.
  2. Mounting Surface: Ensure the mounting surface is structurally sound and can support the fixture's weight.
  3. Thermal Safety: Allow fixture to cool before handling after extended operation.
  4. Environmental: Do not install in enclosed fixtures unless rated for such use.

WARNING! Risk of electric shock or fire. Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with all local and national electrical codes.

Technical Specifications

Mounting & Positioning

Determine the desired location, ensuring adequate clearance for heat dissipation and light distribution.

Steps:

  1. Mark the mounting points on the ceiling/wall using the bracket as a template.
  2. Drill pilot holes and secure the mounting bracket using the provided screws and anchors (suitable for the surface material).
  3. Adjust the fixture's tilt and rotation on the bracket to the desired aim before final tightening.
  4. Ensure all locking screws are fully tightened.

Tip: For best performance, maintain a minimum clearance of 6 inches from insulation or other obstructions.

Electrical Wiring

Connect the fixture to the building's electrical supply and any control systems.

  1. Ensure power is OFF at the circuit breaker.
  2. Remove the wiring compartment cover on the fixture.
  3. Connect the AC line (Black/Hot, White/Neutral, Green/Ground) to the corresponding wires in the fixture's terminal block. Follow local color codes.
  4. For dimmable models: Connect the purple (dim+) and gray (dim-) wires to the 0-10V dimmer controller.
  5. Secure all connections, tuck wires neatly, and replace the wiring compartment cover.

WARNING! All wiring must comply with NEC/CEC and local regulations. Use wire nuts or terminal blocks rated for the wire gauge and current.

Configuration & Setup

Some models offer configurable settings via DIP switches inside the wiring compartment.

  1. Voltage Selection: Ensure DIP switch is set correctly for your line voltage (e.g., 120V or 277V).
  2. Dimming Protocol: Select 0-10V, DALI, or Triac mode if applicable.
  3. Photocell/Dawn-to-Dusk: Enable/disable via DIP switch if fixture includes a light sensor.

Note: Default factory settings are for 120V, 0-10V dimming, and photocell disabled. Refer to the specific model's datasheet for DIP switch maps.

Operation & Control

Once installed and powered, the fixture will illuminate. Use the connected wall switch or dimmer for control.

Dimming: Compatible dimmers will smoothly adjust light output from 100% down to 10% (or lower, depending on driver).

Beam Adjustment: Loosen the set-screw on the side of the fixture to manually adjust the beam spread (spot to flood). Retighten to lock position.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Turn OFF power and allow the fixture to cool completely before any maintenance.

  1. Lens Cleaning: Wipe the polycarbonate lens with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a cloth dampened with a mild soap solution. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  2. Housing: Wipe the aluminum housing with a dry cloth. The IP65 rating protects against dust and water jets, but regular cleaning maintains appearance.
  3. Inspection: Periodically check mounting hardware and electrical connections for tightness.

CAUTION! Do not immerse the fixture in water. Do not clean while the fixture is hot or energized.

Compliance & Warranty

This product complies with FCC Part 15 Subpart B (Class B), UL 1598/UL 8750, and is certified for use in North America. It bears the cETLus mark. The 5-year limited warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Warranty is void if the product is modified, improperly installed, or used outside its specifications. For warranty service, contact Simx Lighting Customer Support with proof of purchase.

Troubleshooting

SymptomPossible CauseCorrective Action
Fixture does not turn onNo power, wiring faultCheck circuit breaker/power switch. Verify all wire connections are secure and correct.
Flickering or unstable lightIncompatible dimmer, loose connectionEnsure dimmer is compatible (0-10V). Check and tighten all wiring connections.
Dimming not workingIncorrect dimmer wiring, DIP switch settingVerify purple/gray dimming wires are connected. Check DIP switch for correct dimming protocol.
Fixture is hot to the touchNormal operation, insufficient ventilationSome heat is normal. Ensure minimum clearance distances are met for proper heat dissipation.
Reduced light output over timeNormal lumen depreciation, driver issueLEDs slowly depreciate. If significant, the driver may be failing. Contact support.

Reset: For smart/dimmable models, power cycle (turn off for 10 seconds, then on) may reset the driver.
