Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Choose a location with maximum sunlight exposure.

  1. Select Location: Ensure the panel faces south (Northern Hemisphere) or north (Southern Hemisphere) with minimal shading.
  2. Mount Panel: Use provided brackets to secure panel to a stable surface (wall, roof, pole). Ensure all screws are tight.
  3. Connect to Motor: Route the DC cable from the panel's output port to the Rollease Acmeda motor input. Ensure connection is secure and weatherproof if outdoors.
  4. Initial Charge: Before first use, expose panel to direct sunlight for a full day to charge the battery.

WARNING! Install at a safe height. Do not install near flammable materials. Ensure mounting surface can support panel weight.

First-Time Setup

After installation, verify system operation.

  1. Check LED Indicators: Solid green light indicates full charge; blinking green means charging; red indicates low battery.
  2. Test Motor Operation: Use your Rollease Acmeda remote or control system to operate the connected motor. Ensure smooth movement.
  3. Optimize Angle: Adjust panel tilt seasonally for best sun exposure (approx. latitude angle).
  4. System Monitoring: Observe performance over several days to ensure adequate charging.

CAUTION! Do not disassemble the unit. Keep vents clear of obstructions.

Specifications

Controls and Indicators

The unit has a single multi-status LED indicator located on the side.

LED Status Guide:

Physical Controls: None. Operation is automatic. Disconnect the DC cable to power off the connected motor.

Connecting to Motorized Systems

Designed for seamless integration with Rollease Acmeda automation.

  1. Ensure both the solar panel and the motor are turned off (disconnected).
  2. Connect the male DC plug from the solar panel's output cable to the female DC input port on the Rollease Acmeda motor.
  3. Secure the connection. Use provided weatherproofing cap if the connection is outdoors.
  4. The system is now powered. The motor will draw power from the battery, which is replenished by the solar panel.

Tip: Use the recommended cable length. Excessive cable can cause voltage drop.

Charging & Operation

The system operates automatically once installed.

  1. Daily Operation: The panel charges the battery during daylight. The battery powers the motor at any time.
  2. Battery Management: The smart circuit prevents overcharging and deep discharge to prolong battery life.
  3. Low Light Performance: The panel can still charge in cloudy conditions but at a reduced rate.
  4. Motor Usage: A full charge can typically support dozens of standard open/close cycles depending on motor size and load.

WARNING! Do not attempt to charge the unit with any other power source besides the integrated solar panel. Do not short-circuit the output terminals.

Maintenance & Storage

Regular Maintenance:

Long-Term Storage: If storing for more than a month, disconnect the panel from the motor. Store in a cool, dry place with the battery at approximately 50% charge. Recharge every 6 months.

CAUTION! Do not use abrasive cleaners or high-pressure water on the panel. Do not store in temperatures above 60°C (140°F).

Troubleshooting

SymptomPossible CauseCorrective Action
LED is off, motor not workingComplete battery discharge, no sunlight for extended period, faulty connectionPlace panel in direct sunlight for several hours. Check all cable connections. Ensure panel is not in shade.
LED blinking redBattery fault, temperature out of rangeDisconnect the panel from the motor and place in moderate temperature (20-25°C) sunlight. If error persists, contact support.
Motor operates intermittentlyLow battery, poor sunlight, high motor loadAllow panel to charge fully. Reduce frequency of motor operations. Check for mechanical binding in the window covering.
Panel not charging (Green LED not blinking)Dirty panel, wrong angle, persistent shadingClean panel surface. Re-adjust angle for better sun exposure. Relocate panel if permanently shaded.
Reduced runtime after full chargeBattery aging, extreme temperaturesThis is normal after several years of use. Consider battery replacement service. Avoid operating in extreme cold/heat.

Reset: Disconnect from motor and allow battery to fully drain and recharge.

Service: Do not open the unit. All service must be performed by qualified Rollease Acmeda personnel. Contact your dealer or www.rolleaseacmeda.com.
