Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Ensure all components are present and undamaged.

  1. Position the suitcase: Place on a flat, stable surface with direct sunlight.
  2. Adjust kickstands: Extend and angle panels toward the sun (optimal 30-45 degrees).
  3. Connect to battery: Attach red alligator clip to battery positive (+) and black clip to negative (-).
  4. Secure connections: Ensure clips are firmly attached to battery terminals.
  5. Open panels: Unfold and lock panels into place.

WARNING! Connect to battery BEFORE exposing panels to sunlight to avoid arcing. Disconnect battery before maintenance.

First-Time Setup

After installation, configure the charge controller for your battery type.

  1. Power on: LCD will illuminate once connected to battery and exposed to light.
  2. Select battery type: Press and hold MODE button for 3 seconds to cycle options (Sealed, Gel, Flooded, Li).
  3. Confirm selection: Release button when desired battery type is displayed.
  4. Verify charging: LCD should show battery voltage and charging current.
  5. Optimize angle: Adjust kickstands throughout the day for maximum sun exposure.

CAUTION! Never connect panels directly to battery without charge controller. Ensure polarity is correct.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Access settings via charge controller buttons and LCD display.

Charge Controller: MODE button (select battery type), ON/OFF button (enable/disable output).

LCD Display: Shows battery voltage (V), charging current (A), battery type icon, and charging status (bulk, float, etc.).

Settings: Battery type selection (Sealed, Gel, Flooded, Li), load control settings (optional), temperature compensation (built-in).

Connecting Devices

Connect to 12V batteries or power stations. Compatible with Renogy and other 12V systems.

  1. Turn off all connected loads before connecting.
  2. Connect charge controller to battery first (red to +, black to -).
  3. Connect solar panels to charge controller (pre-wired).
  4. Connect loads to load terminals on controller (if used).
  5. Turn on charge controller and verify LCD display.

Tip: Use appropriate gauge extension cables if needed; keep cable runs short to minimize voltage drop.

Operation & Charging

Supports daily charging of 12V batteries for various applications.

  1. Deployment: Unfold panels, adjust angle, ensure clear sun path.
  2. Monitoring: Check LCD for real-time voltage and current.
  3. Charging Stages: Bulk (constant current), Absorption (constant voltage), Float (maintenance).
  4. Load Management: Connect loads to controller load terminals for automatic control.
  5. Shutdown: Disconnect loads, then battery, then fold panels for storage.
  6. Maintenance Charging: Suitable for long-term battery maintenance.
  7. Parallel Use: Can be connected in parallel with other Renogy suitcases (with proper cabling).
  8. Temperature Compensation: Automatic adjustment based on ambient temperature.

WARNING! Do not attempt to charge 6V or 24V batteries. Keep panels clean and free of shading.

Maintenance & Storage

Clean panels regularly with soft cloth and water. Store in dry, cool place when not in use.

CAUTION! Do not use abrasive cleaners. Disconnect all cables before cleaning. Store with panels folded and locked.

Safety Information
