Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Mount in a well-ventilated location.

  1. Mount controller: Use provided screws to mount on flat surface, ensure waterproof seal is intact.
  2. Connect battery: Connect battery terminals first (positive to BAT+, negative to BAT-).
  3. Connect solar panels: Connect PV cables (positive to PV+, negative to PV-).
  4. Connect load: Connect DC load wires to LOAD+ and LOAD- terminals if used.
  5. Connect temperature sensor: Plug into dedicated port for accurate temperature compensation.

WARNING! Always connect battery before PV panels. Ensure all connections are tight and polarity is correct to avoid damage.

First-Time Setup

Power on controller; follow LCD prompts and button controls.

  1. Set battery type: Press SET button, use arrows to select battery type (Sealed, Gel, Flooded, User, Lithium).
  2. Configure charging parameters: Adjust bulk/absorption voltage, float voltage, equalization (if applicable).
  3. Set load control mode: Choose from Manual, Timer, or Dusk-to-Dawn modes for DC load output.
  4. Pair Bluetooth: Insert BT-1 module, download Renogy DC Home app, pair with controller.
  5. Verify operation: Check LCD for PV voltage, battery voltage, and charging status.

CAUTION! Do not expose controller to direct sunlight or rain during installation. Keep away from flammable materials.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Access settings via front panel buttons. Buttons: ON/OFF, SET, UP, DOWN.

LCD Display: Shows battery voltage, PV voltage, charging current, load status, error codes, battery SOC (State of Charge).

Battery Settings: Battery type selection, charging voltage adjustment, equalization control. Load Settings: Mode (Manual/Off/Timer/Dusk-to-Dawn), timer settings. System Settings: Language, LCD backlight timeout, temperature unit. Bluetooth: Pairing and data synchronization with app.

Connecting Devices

Battery: BAT+ and BAT- terminals. Solar Panels: PV+ and PV- terminals. Load: LOAD+ and LOAD- terminals. Accessories: Temperature sensor, BT-1 module.

  1. Turn off all power sources before connecting.
  2. Use proper wire gauge (minimum 10 AWG for battery/PV connections).
  3. Ensure waterproof cable glands are properly sealed.
  4. Connect in correct order: Battery → PV → Load → Accessories.

Tip: Use a multimeter to verify voltages before connecting to prevent reverse polarity.

Monitoring & Data Logging

Monitor system performance via LCD or Bluetooth app.

  1. Real-time monitoring: View PV input power, battery voltage, charging current, load power on LCD.
  2. Historical data: Access daily/monthly energy harvest data via Renogy DC Home app.
  3. Error history: Check stored error codes for troubleshooting.
  4. Remote control: Turn load on/off, adjust settings via app when Bluetooth is connected.
  5. SOC estimation: Monitor battery State of Charge based on voltage and charging history.

WARNING! Do not open controller enclosure while powered. Contact qualified personnel for internal inspection.

Protection Features

Overcharge Protection: Stops charging when battery voltage exceeds set point. Over-discharge Protection: Disconnects load when battery voltage drops below threshold. Short Circuit Protection: Automatically cuts off output during short circuit. Reverse Polarity Protection: Prevents damage from incorrect battery/PV connections. Over-temperature Protection: Reduces charging current when internal temperature is too high.

Care & Maintenance

Disconnect power before cleaning. Wipe enclosure with dry cloth; do not use chemicals.

CAUTION! Do not disassemble controller. Keep terminals clean and dry. Check cable connections periodically for corrosion.
