Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Ensure all components are present and undamaged.

  1. Choose Location: Place panel in direct sunlight, avoiding shadows.
  2. Deploy Kickstand: Unfold the integrated kickstand to desired angle (approx. 30-60 degrees).
  3. Secure Panel: For permanent or semi-permanent mounting, use adhesive backing or provided grommets on a flat, clean surface.
  4. Connect Cables: Attach DC cable to battery or device via alligator clips (red to positive, black to negative).

WARNING! Do not bend panel excessively. Avoid sharp objects. Ensure connections are dry before making.

First-Time Setup

For initial use, follow these steps to ensure proper operation.

  1. Inspect Panel: Check for any visible damage to cells or laminate.
  2. Position in Sun: Place panel in full, direct sunlight for optimal performance.
  3. Connect to Battery: Using DC cable, connect red clip to positive (+) terminal and black clip to negative (-) terminal of a 12V battery.
  4. Connect USB Device: Plug USB cable from device into USB-A port on panel. Charging indicator (on device) should activate.
  5. Monitor Output: Ensure battery voltage increases or device charges as expected.

CAUTION! Do not short-circuit the DC output terminals. Keep panel away from flammable materials when in sun.

Specifications

Controls and Connections

The panel has minimal controls. All connections are via ports and cables.

Panel Ports: USB-A output port, DC output cable (fixed).

DC Cable: Red alligator clip (positive), Black alligator clip (negative).

Kickstand: Foldable, adjustable for angle. Lies flat when not in use.

Operation: Panel is always "on" when exposed to light. Output is dependent on sunlight intensity. No power switch.

Connecting to Devices

Connect to 12V batteries or USB devices.

  1. For 12V Batteries (e.g., car, marine, RV): Use DC cable. Connect red clip to positive terminal, black to negative. Ensure battery is 12V nominal.
  2. For USB Devices (phones, power banks, lights): Use standard USB cable. Plug into USB-A port on panel. Device must accept 5V input.

Tip: For best results, connect battery or device before placing panel in sun. Disconnect when not in use to prevent parasitic drain.

Charging Batteries

Designed for maintaining or trickle-charging 12V lead-acid, AGM, gel, and lithium batteries.

  1. Check Battery: Ensure battery voltage is between 10V and 14.4V for safe charging.
  2. Connect Cables: Attach clips securely to clean battery terminals.
  3. Position Panel: Place in direct sunlight, angled towards the sun.
  4. Monitor: Use a voltmeter to check battery voltage increase over several hours.
  5. Disconnect: Once charged, or if leaving unattended, disconnect clips from battery.

WARNING! This panel is not a full battery charger. It is for maintenance/trickle charging. Do not use to charge a completely dead (0V) battery. Do not leave connected indefinitely without monitoring.

Safety Features

Reverse Polarity Protection: Prevents damage if DC clips are connected backwards (battery charging only). Short-Circuit Protection: Built-in protection for DC output. Water & Dust Resistance: IP67 rating allows use in wet conditions.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug all devices before cleaning. Use a soft, damp cloth with mild soap to clean the ETFE surface. Rinse with clean water if needed. Do not use abrasive cleaners or high-pressure water.

CAUTION! Do not immerse the junction box (where cables exit) in water despite IP67 rating for the panel surface. Store in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid folding or creasing sharply.
