Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Ensure all components are present and undamaged.

  1. Unroll the solar panel completely on a flat surface.
  2. Position the panel in direct sunlight, facing the sun for optimal performance.
  3. Secure the panel using the provided grommets or weights to prevent movement.
  4. Connect the output cable to the battery or device (see Connecting Devices).

WARNING! Do not install near flammable materials. Avoid shading the panel for maximum efficiency.

First-Time Setup

Prepare the panel for initial use by following these steps.

  1. Unroll the panel and place it in full sunlight.
  2. Connect the alligator clips to the battery terminals: RED to positive (+), BLACK to negative (-).
  3. Ensure the connection is secure and the clips are not touching each other.
  4. Verify charging by checking the battery voltage or device indicator.

CAUTION! Always connect to the battery before exposing the panel to sunlight to avoid arcing.

Specifications

Controls and Connections

The R-14 has a simple design with no onboard controls. Power management is handled by the connected device or battery.

Connections: Output cable with alligator clips (RED positive, BLACK negative).

Operation: The panel automatically generates power when exposed to sunlight. The integrated blocking diode prevents reverse current flow at night or in low light.

Connecting Devices

Connect the panel to 12V batteries or devices with appropriate input.

  1. For 12V Batteries: Connect RED clip to positive terminal, BLACK clip to negative terminal.
  2. For Devices: Use a compatible adapter or regulator if the device does not accept direct 12V input.
  3. For Multiple Panels: Connect in parallel (positive to positive, negative to negative) to increase current.

Tip: Use a charge controller for optimal battery health and overcharge protection.

Charging Batteries

Designed for charging 12V lead-acid, AGM, gel, and lithium-ion batteries.

  1. Ensure the battery is compatible with 12V solar charging.
  2. Connect the panel to the battery as described in First-Time Setup.
  3. Place the panel in direct sunlight; charging begins automatically.
  4. Monitor battery voltage to avoid overcharging; disconnect when full.
  5. For maintenance charging, leave connected; the low current is safe for extended periods.

WARNING! Do not connect to a fully charged battery without a charge controller. Avoid short-circuiting the clips.

Maintenance & Storage

Clean the panel surface with a soft, damp cloth as needed. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

For storage, roll the panel loosely and place it in the provided pouch. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

CAUTION! Do not fold or crease the panel. Avoid puncturing the surface.
