Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Select a dry, sheltered location.

  1. Mount unit: Use provided brackets to mount on post or wall, out of direct rain.
  2. Install grounding: Drive at least three 4-ft ground rods 10 ft apart; connect to EARTH terminal.
  3. Connect battery: Attach 12V battery (min. 7Ah) to terminals (red +, black -).
  4. Connect solar panel (if used): Plug into SOLAR INPUT port.
  5. Connect fence line: Attach fence wire to FENCE terminal.

WARNING! Ensure unit is OFF during installation. Keep away from flammable materials. Use insulated tools.

First-Time Setup

Power on energizer; observe LED indicators.

  1. Select power mode: Choose battery, solar, or AC power source.
  2. Set pulse rate: Use selector switch (ECO for light vegetation, MAX for heavy weed load).
  3. Test fence voltage: Press TEST button; green LED should flash, voltage meter should read 5kV+.
  4. Verify grounding: Ensure earth rods are in damp soil; resistance should be below 500 ohms.

CAUTION! Do not touch fence wire when energized. Keep children and pets away during setup.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Front Panel: POWER switch, Pulse Rate selector, TEST button. Status LEDs: POWER (green), FAULT (red), BATTERY (yellow), VOLTAGE (blue segments).

LED Indicators: POWER solid = ON; flashing = low power. FAULT lit = short circuit or poor ground. BATTERY lit = low battery (< 11V). VOLTAGE segments show approximate fence voltage (1-5 segments).

Pulse Settings: ECO for battery saving, NORMAL for general use, MAX for high weed contact or long fences. Voltage Monitoring: Automatic; displayed via blue LED segments.

Connecting Power Sources

Battery: Connect 12V battery to terminals. Solar: Connect panel to input port. AC: Use included adapter.

  1. Turn POWER switch OFF before connecting.
  2. For battery: Ensure correct polarity (red +, black -).
  3. For solar: Panel should be facing south (northern hemisphere) at optimal angle.
  4. For AC: Plug adapter into unit first, then into wall outlet.

Tip: For continuous operation, use solar panel with battery to maintain charge.

Connecting Fence Lines

Supports multiple wire types: polywire, steel wire, tape.

  1. Isolate energizer: Turn OFF power.
  2. Connect fence wire: Use insulated cable from FENCE terminal to fence line.
  3. Install insulators: Use proper insulators on posts to prevent leakage.
  4. Check for shorts: Ensure no wires touch posts, weeds, or ground.
  5. Connect gates: Use underground cable or gate handles with built-in connectors.
  6. Test each section: Use fence tester to verify voltage along entire line.

WARNING! Never connect energizer to utility or telephone lines. Never use barbed wire as fence line.

Monitoring & Alerts

Voltage Display: Blue LED segments indicate fence voltage (1=low, 5=optimal). Low Battery Alert: Yellow BATTERY LED lights when battery below 11V; buzzer sounds. Fault Alert: Red FAULT LED lights during short circuit or poor ground; pulse stops.

Maintenance & Storage

Monthly: Check battery charge, clean solar panel, inspect connections, test fence voltage. Seasonally: Check ground rod resistance, trim vegetation near fence line. Storage: Disconnect power, remove battery, store in dry place above freezing.

CAUTION! Disconnect all power before cleaning. Do not open enclosure; no user-serviceable parts inside.
