Safety Precautions

Read all safety information before use to prevent injury and damage.

  1. Do not exceed the maximum input limits marked on the meter.
  2. Do not use the meter if it appears damaged or the case is open.
  3. Use caution when measuring voltages above 30V AC RMS or 60V DC.
  4. Disconnect test leads from circuit before changing function or range.
  5. Replace battery with correct type and rating when low battery indicator appears.

WARNING! Risk of electric shock. Do not measure voltages in circuits that may contain hazardous potentials without proper training and precautions.

Getting Started

Unpack and inspect contents. Install battery.

  1. Install Battery: Open battery compartment, insert 9V battery, close compartment.
  2. Connect Test Leads: Insert black lead into COM jack. Insert red lead into VΩHz jack for most measurements. For current >10A, use the 10A jack with red lead.
  3. Power On: Turn rotary switch to desired function. The meter will power on.
  4. Test: Set to VDC, touch leads to a known DC source (e.g., battery) to verify operation.

CAUTION! Ensure meter is set to correct function and range before connecting to circuit.

Specifications

Controls and Display

Front Panel: Rotary function switch, HOLD button, REL button, input jacks (COM, VΩHz, mA, 10A).

Display Symbols: AC, DC, Auto, Hold, Low Battery, OL (Overload), Diode, Continuity.

Rotary Switch Positions: Off, V⎓ (DC Voltage), V~ (AC Voltage), mV (Millivolt), Ω (Resistance), Continuity/Diode, Capacitance, Frequency/Duty, Temperature, A⎓ (DC Current), A~ (AC Current).

Measurement Procedures

General: Turn rotary switch to desired function. Connect test leads to correct jacks. Connect probes to circuit. Read display.

  1. Voltage (DC/AC): Set to V⎓ or V~. Connect red lead to VΩHz, black to COM. Touch probes to circuit points in parallel.
  2. Current (DC/AC): Power OFF circuit. Break circuit. Set to A⎓ or A~. For <400mA, use mA jack. For up to 10A, use 10A jack. Connect meter in series. Power ON circuit.
  3. Resistance/Continuity/Diode: Set to Ω, Continuity, or Diode symbol. Ensure circuit is de-energized. Connect across component.
  4. Capacitance: Set to Capacitance (⎓). Discharge capacitor first. Connect across capacitor leads.
  5. Frequency: Set to Hz. Connect leads across signal source (voltage mode).

Tip: For auto-ranging, simply select the function. For manual range, press the RANGE button (if equipped).

Special Functions

Data Hold (HOLD): Press HOLD button to freeze display. Press again to release.

Relative Mode (REL): Press REL button to set current reading as zero reference for subsequent measurements (e.g., measuring small resistance changes).

Backlight: Press the light bulb symbol button (if separate) or hold HOLD for 2 seconds to toggle backlight.

Auto Power Off: Meter turns off after approximately 15 minutes of inactivity. Press any button to restart.

Maintenance & Storage

Clean with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use solvents or water.

  1. Battery Replacement: When low battery icon appears, turn meter off, open compartment, replace with a new 9V battery.
  2. Fuse Replacement: For current jacks (mA/10A). Use only specified fuse ratings (e.g., F500mA/250V, F10A/250V). Disconnect leads and power off before replacing.
  3. Storage: Store in a dry place, with rotary switch set to OFF. Remove battery if not used for extended periods.

CAUTION! Do not operate with case open. Use only specified replacement parts.
