Controls and Settings

Primary control is the 3-position switch located inside the access panel.

Switch Positions:

OFF: Light remains off. Battery will charge if solar panel is in sun.
AUTO (Dusk-to-Dawn): Light turns on automatically at dusk at dim setting and turns off at dawn.
TEST / MOTION: Light remains in dim mode. Motion sensor is activated. When motion is detected, light switches to bright mode for a set duration (approx. 30 seconds), then returns to dim.

Adjustments: Motion sensor sensitivity dial. Access by removing the lower cover.

Connecting to Mounting Post

Lantern is designed for post-top mounting.

Ensure post is securely installed in ground or base.
Slide the mounting bracket's U-bolt around the post.
Place the flat washer and nut on the U-bolt and tighten securely.
Hook the lantern's hanging loop onto the bracket's hook.
Insert and tighten the security screw through the loop to prevent theft.

Tip: Ensure the solar panel faces true south (in Northern Hemisphere) for maximum sun exposure.

Operation Modes

Two primary automatic modes.

Dusk-to-Dawn Mode (AUTO): Light activates at low brightness when photocell detects darkness. Runs until dawn or until battery is depleted.
Motion-Sensing Mode (TEST/MOTION): Light stays in low-brightness "standby" mode. Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor monitors area. Upon detecting motion, light instantly brightens to 100% for approximately 30 seconds, then dims back to standby.
Manual Override: Switch to OFF to disable light regardless of conditions. Battery will still charge.

WARNING! Do not cover the solar panel or photocell sensor. Keep sensor area clean for proper operation.

Maintenance & Battery Care

Cleaning: Wipe solar panel and polycarbonate shade with a soft, damp cloth every few months to remove dust and debris.
Battery: The sealed NiMH battery is maintenance-free but has a finite lifespan (typically 2-3 years). Reduced nighttime operation indicates battery may need replacement (Part # GS-BATT-NiMH).
Winter Operation: Performance may decrease in winter due to shorter days and snow cover. Clear snow from solar panel.

Troubleshooting
