Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Choose a suitable location with maximum sunlight exposure.

  1. Mounting: Use the pre-drilled holes on the panel frame. Secure to a stable surface (roof, ground mount, etc.) using appropriate brackets and hardware (not included).
  2. Orientation: Tilt the panel towards the sun (angle depends on latitude and season).
  3. Wiring: Connect the panel's MC4 connectors to a solar charge controller. Ensure polarity is correct (positive to positive, negative to negative).
  4. System Integration: Connect the charge controller to the battery and then to the load.

WARNING! Do not install during rain, strong wind, or on unstable surfaces. Ensure all electrical connections are secure and correct before applying power.

First-Time Setup

After physical installation, configure the electrical system.

  1. Connect to Charge Controller: First connect the panel to the charge controller, then connect the controller to the battery. This sequence prevents voltage spikes.
  2. Battery Configuration: Set the charge controller to the correct battery type (e.g., Sealed, Gel, Flooded, LiFePO4) and system voltage (12V or 24V).
  3. Load Connection: Connect your DC loads to the load terminals of the charge controller, if supported.
  4. Verify Operation: Check the charge controller display or indicators to confirm the panel is receiving sunlight and charging the battery.

CAUTION! Never connect the solar panel directly to a battery without a charge controller, as this can overcharge and damage the battery.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

This panel has no active controls. System management is performed through the connected charge controller.

Charge Controller Settings (Typical): Refer to your charge controller manual. Common settings include: Battery Type Selection, Charging Voltage Set Points (Bulk, Absorption, Float), Load Control Mode (e.g., Timer, Dusk-to-Dawn), Low Voltage Disconnect (LVD) Setting.

Monitoring: Observe the charge controller's display or LED indicators for system status: Charging, Battery Full, Fault.

Connecting Devices

This panel is designed to charge a battery bank via a charge controller, which then powers DC loads.

  1. To Charge Controller: Use the provided MC4 connectors and appropriate gauge solar cable.
  2. To Battery: Always connect through the charge controller. Never connect the panel directly.
  3. To Loads: Connect DC loads (lights, fans, pumps) to the load terminals of the charge controller or directly to the battery (with appropriate fuses).
  4. Parallel/Series Connection: Multiple panels can be connected in series (for higher voltage) or parallel (for higher current) to match your charge controller input requirements.

Tip: Use a multimeter to verify panel voltage (Voc) before making connections, especially when connecting multiple panels.

Operation and Monitoring

The panel operates automatically when exposed to sunlight.

  1. Daily Operation: Ensure the panel surface is clean and unobstructed for optimal performance.
  2. Performance Check: Monitor the charge controller regularly. A significant drop in charging current may indicate shading, dirt, or a system fault.
  3. Seasonal Adjustment: Adjust the panel tilt angle seasonally to maximize annual energy harvest.
  4. Shading Avoidance: Even partial shading on one cell can drastically reduce the output of the entire panel. Position the panel to avoid shadows from trees, chimneys, etc.

WARNING! The panel produces voltage whenever exposed to light, even on cloudy days. Treat the output wires as live. Cover the panel with an opaque material before performing any maintenance on the wiring.

Safety Features

Bypass Diodes: Integrated in the junction box to minimize power loss and prevent hot spots if part of the panel is shaded. Waterproof Junction Box (IP65): Protects electrical connections from rain and dust. Tempered Glass: Provides impact resistance and durability.

Care & Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures long-term performance.

  1. Cleaning: Periodically clean the glass surface with water and a soft cloth or sponge. For stubborn dirt, use a mild, non-abrasive detergent. Rinse thoroughly.
  2. Inspection: Check mounting hardware for tightness, especially after severe weather. Inspect cables and connectors for wear, corrosion, or damage.
  3. Winter Care: Snow will slide off the smooth glass surface. Do not use sharp tools to remove ice or snow, as this may scratch the glass.

CAUTION! Do not use abrasive materials, harsh chemicals, or high-pressure water jets for cleaning. Do not walk on the panel.
