Initial Setup
Follow these steps to prepare your camera for first use.
- Charge the Battery: Insert the battery into the charger and plug it into a power outlet. The charge indicator light will turn red and then green when fully charged (approx. 2 hours).
- Insert the Battery and Memory Card: Open the compartment door on the bottom of the camera. Insert the charged battery and a compatible SD memory card (not included).
- Set Date and Time: Turn on the camera. The first time you power on, you will be prompted to set the current date and time. Use the arrow buttons to navigate and the SET button to confirm.
- Attach the Wrist Strap: Thread the strap through the eyelet on the right side of the camera for safety.
WARNING! Do not force the battery or memory card. Ensure they are oriented correctly before inserting.
Basic Shooting
Taking your first photo is simple.
- Turn the camera ON by pressing the Power Button.
- Set the Mode Dial to AUTO (represented by a green camera icon) for fully automatic operation.
- Frame your subject on the LCD screen.
- Gently press the Shutter Button halfway down to focus. A green focus frame will appear.
- Press the Shutter Button all the way down to take the picture. You will hear a shutter sound.
- To use the zoom, slide the Zoom Lever (W/T) towards T to get closer, or towards W for a wider view.
- To take a video, turn the Mode Dial to VIDEO (movie camera icon) and press the Shutter Button once to start recording. Press it again to stop.
TIP: Hold the camera steady with both hands for clearer pictures.
Viewing & Managing Photos
Review and delete photos directly on the camera.
- Press the Playback Button (marked with a triangle) to enter review mode.
- Use the Left/Right arrow buttons to scroll through your photos and videos.
- Press the Zoom Lever towards T to zoom in on a photo. Use the arrow buttons to pan around. Press W to zoom out.
- To delete an unwanted photo/video, press the Menu/Delete Button while the item is displayed. Select "Delete" and confirm with SET.
- Press the Playback Button again or half-press the Shutter Button to return to shooting mode.
Connecting to a Computer
Transfer photos and videos to your computer for editing and sharing.
- Ensure the camera is turned OFF.
- Connect the small end of the provided USB cable to the port on the side of the camera.
- Connect the larger end to an available USB port on your computer.
- Turn the camera ON. Your computer should recognize it as a removable storage device.
- Open the device (usually named "Removable Disk" or "QC5528") and navigate to the "DCIM" folder to find your photos and videos.
- Copy the files to a folder on your computer.
- To safely disconnect, use your computer's "Eject" or "Safely Remove Hardware" feature before unplugging the USB cable.
NOTE: You can also install the software from the included CD for additional photo management features.
Battery & Power
- Battery Type: Rechargeable Li-ion Battery NP-40.
- Charging: Use only the provided AC adapter. A full charge takes approximately 2 hours.
- Battery Life: Approximately 200 shots per full charge (CIPA standard). Using the flash or LCD frequently will reduce this number.
- Power Saving: The camera will automatically enter sleep mode after 1 minute of inactivity (default). Press any button to wake it up.
- Low Battery Warning: A battery icon will flash on the LCD when power is low. Recharge the battery soon.
CAUTION! Do not use damaged batteries or chargers. Charge only in a well-ventilated area.
Care & Maintenance
Proper care will ensure your camera lasts for years.
- Lens: Clean only with a soft, dry lens brush or cloth. Do not touch the lens with your fingers.
- LCD Screen: Wipe gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not use chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Body: Wipe with a dry cloth. Do not use solvents like benzene or alcohol.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Remove the battery if the camera will not be used for an extended period.
- Avoid: Sand, dust, extreme temperatures, humidity, and strong magnetic fields.
Troubleshooting

Reset: If the camera behaves unexpectedly, you can reset all settings to factory defaults via the Setup Menu > Reset.
