Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Ensure all components are present and undamaged.

  1. Choose location: Select area with maximum sunlight exposure, minimal shading.
  2. Mounting: Use included brackets or compatible mounting system; secure with bolts through frame holes.
  3. Orientation: Angle panel toward sun (typically 15-40 degrees depending on latitude).
  4. Wiring: Connect MC4 connectors to charge controller cables (positive to positive, negative to negative).
  5. Grounding: Connect frame grounding lug to proper earth ground.

WARNING! Do not install during rain or high winds. Use proper personal protective equipment. Panel is heavy; use two people for handling.

First-Time Setup

After installation, configure your solar power system.

  1. Connect to charge controller: Ensure panel cables are connected to correct terminals on solar charge controller.
  2. Connect battery: Connect charge controller to battery bank following manufacturer instructions.
  3. Connect load: Connect DC or AC loads to system as required.
  4. Verify operation: Check charge controller display for incoming solar power.
  5. Monitor output: Use multimeter or monitoring system to verify voltage and current.

CAUTION! Never connect panel directly to battery without charge controller. Ensure all connections are tight and weatherproof.

Specifications

Controls and Connections

Panel has no active controls; operation is passive. Key connection points: MC4 connectors (positive and negative), grounding lug.

Junction Box: Contains bypass diodes to minimize power loss from shading. Sealed with IP67 rating.

MC4 Connectors: Standard solar connectors. Male connector is positive (+), female connector is negative (-). Always use weatherproof connectors.

Mounting Holes: 8 mounting holes on rear frame for secure installation.

Connecting to System

Connect panel to charge controller, then to battery bank.

  1. Turn off all system components before connecting.
  2. Connect panel positive (+) to charge controller solar input positive (+).
  3. Connect panel negative (-) to charge controller solar input negative (-).
  4. Connect charge controller battery terminals to battery bank.
  5. Connect charge controller load terminals to DC loads if applicable.
  6. For multiple panels: Connect in series (for higher voltage) or parallel (for higher current) as needed.

Tip: Use proper gauge wiring to minimize voltage drop. Keep cable runs as short as possible.

Operation & Monitoring

Panel operates automatically when exposed to sunlight.

  1. Daily operation: No user intervention required; panel generates power whenever sunlight is available.
  2. Monitoring: Check charge controller display for voltage, current, and power readings.
  3. Performance tracking: Monitor daily energy production through charge controller or external monitor.
  4. Seasonal adjustment: Adjust tilt angle seasonally for optimal performance.
  5. Shading avoidance: Keep panel surface clear of debris, snow, and shading objects.

WARNING! Panel produces DC voltage whenever exposed to light, even on cloudy days. Always treat as live electrical equipment.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance.

  1. Cleaning: Use soft cloth or sponge with mild soap and water. Rinse with clean water.
  2. Frequency: Clean every 3-6 months, or more often in dusty/dirty environments.
  3. Inspection: Check for physical damage, loose connections, corrosion, or water ingress.
  4. Mounting hardware: Inspect and tighten bolts annually.
  5. Wiring: Check for damage, wear, or animal chewing.

CAUTION! Do not use abrasive materials or harsh chemicals. Do not walk on panel. Clean during cool morning or evening hours.

Safety Information

Electrical Safety: Panel produces hazardous DC voltage. Always disconnect from system before working on wiring. Use insulated tools.

Fire Safety: Ensure proper ventilation behind panel. Do not install near flammable materials.

Physical Safety: Panel is heavy and has glass surface. Use proper lifting techniques. Wear gloves and safety glasses during installation.

Lightning Protection: Install proper surge protection devices in system. Ground frame properly.
