Important warnings to prevent injury and damage to the device.
WARNING! The sun's rays focused through optical instruments can cause fires. Never leave the telescope unattended while pointed at the sun, even with a filter.
Unpack carefully and verify all items are present.

Follow these steps for initial assembly.
Tip: Perform initial setup indoors in a well-lit room to familiarize yourself with the parts.

Finding Objects: Use the finderscope. First, point the main tube at a distant terrestrial object (e.g., a telephone pole). Look through the finderscope and adjust its alignment screws until the same object is centered in its crosshairs.
Focusing: Turn the focus knob slowly until the image is sharp. Start with the low-power (25mm) eyepiece.
Tracking: Use the slow-motion control knobs on the mount to follow objects smoothly as the Earth rotates.
Changing Magnification: Switch eyepieces. Lower magnification (higher mm number) gives a wider, brighter view and is easier for finding objects. Higher magnification (lower mm number) provides more detail but is more sensitive to atmospheric conditions.
Proper care ensures long-term performance.
CAUTION! Do not disassemble the optical tube. Internal cleaning should only be performed by qualified service personnel.
| Symptom | Possible Cause | Corrective Action |
|---|---|---|
| Image is blurry | Out of focus; dew on lens | Adjust focus knob; allow dew to evaporate or gently wipe with lens tissue. |
| Can't find object in eyepiece | Finderscope misaligned | Re-align finderscope on a distant terrestrial object during daylight. |
| Mount is shaky | Tripod legs not fully extended/locked; high wind | Fully extend and lock all tripod sections. Use on solid ground. Avoid use in high wind. |
| Eyepiece is too dark | Too high magnification; dirty lens | Switch to a lower power eyepiece (higher mm number). Clean eyepiece lens. |
| Nothing visible through finderscope | Lens cap on; battery dead (red dot) | Remove lens cap. Replace the battery in the red dot finder. |
