Initial Setup & Installation

Get your camera online in minutes.

  1. Charge the Battery: Insert battery into camera, connect to power adapter until fully charged.
  2. Download Arlo Secure App: Available on iOS and Android. Create an Arlo account.
  3. Sync Your Camera: In the app, tap "Add New Device," follow on-screen instructions to sync the camera to your network.
  4. Position Your Camera: Use the magnetic mount indoors or outdoors. Ensure Wi-Fi signal is strong.
  5. Test the View: Open live stream in the app to verify angle and video quality.

WARNING! Install the mount securely. Do not mount in areas prone to extreme weather or direct high-pressure water spray.

Status LED Indicators: - Solid Amber: Camera is booting up. - Blinking Amber: Camera is in sync mode, ready to pair. - Blinking Blue: Camera is connecting to your network. - Solid Blue: Camera is connected and working normally. - Blinking Amber & Blue: Connection error or firmware update in progress.

Sync Button: Press and hold for 2 seconds to enter sync mode. Press briefly to manually trigger the spotlight.

Using the Arlo Secure App

Control your camera from your smartphone.

  1. Dashboard: View all connected cameras at a glance.
  2. Live Stream: Tap any camera to view real-time video.
  3. Modes: Set schedules or geofencing for Armed, Disarmed, and custom modes.
  4. Library: Access cloud recordings (subscription required for continuous recording).
  5. Settings: Adjust video quality, activity zones, spotlight settings, audio, and notifications.
  6. Two-Way Talk: Press and hold the microphone icon during live view to speak.

Tip: Enable "Rich Notifications" to see a snapshot directly in your phone's alert.

Mounting & Positioning

For optimal security coverage.

  1. Choose a location 7-10 feet high, with a clear view of the area you want to monitor.
  2. Use the mounting template to mark screw holes. Drill holes and insert anchors (for masonry/walls).
  3. Secure the magnetic mount base to the wall using provided screws.
  4. Attach the camera to the magnetic mount. Adjust the angle for the perfect view.
  5. Ensure the camera is within range of your Wi-Fi router. Avoid thick walls or metal obstructions.

CAUTION! Do not disassemble the camera. Avoid pointing the camera directly at light sources to avoid lens flare.

Battery & Power

Maximizing battery life and charging.

Battery Life: Varies based on usage, recording frequency, and environment. Typical usage lasts 3-6 months.

Charging: 1. Remove the camera from its mount. 2. Open the weather-resistant port cover on the bottom. 3. Connect the USB charging cable. 4. The status LED will glow solid amber while charging and turn off when full.

Power Saving Tips: Optimize motion detection zones, reduce video quality in the app, and schedule "Disarmed" modes when monitoring isn't needed.

WARNING! Use only the provided Arlo charger. Do not use a damaged battery or charging cable.

Care & Maintenance

Keep your camera performing well.

Unmount the camera before cleaning. Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the lens and housing. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Do not use chemicals, solvents, or compressed air.

CAUTION! Ensure the weather-resistant port cover is securely closed before remounting outdoors. Store the battery in a cool, dry place if not used for an extended period.
