Installation

Unpack and inspect all components. Choose a stable, level location near the pond/aquarium.

  1. Position the filter: Place on a solid surface near the water edge, ensuring it is level.
  2. Connect the pump: Submerge the pump in the pond/aquarium, connect hose to filter inlet.
  3. Attach outlet hose: Connect hose from filter outlet to waterfall spillway or return point.
  4. Install filter media: Load foam pads, bio-balls, and carbon into respective baskets.
  5. Electrical connection: Plug pump and UV unit into control panel, then connect to power outlet.

WARNING! Ensure all electrical connections are dry and protected from water splash. Use a GFCI outlet.

First-Time Setup

Power on the system and prime the filter.

  1. Prime the filter: Fill filter housing with water before starting pump to prevent dry running.
  2. Start the pump: Switch on power; check for water flow through inlet and outlet.
  3. Adjust flow: Use control knob to set desired waterfall flow rate.
  4. Activate UV: Turn on UV clarifier after pump is running (allow 5 minutes for bulb warm-up).
  5. Check for leaks: Inspect all hose connections and seals for 30 minutes.

CAUTION! Never operate the pump without water. Keep hands away from moving parts.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Control Panel: POWER switch (pump), UV ON/OFF switch, FLOW ADJUSTMENT knob.

Flow Adjustment: Turn knob clockwise to increase flow, counter-clockwise to decrease. Optimal setting is mid-range for most applications.

UV Operation: UV light should run 8-10 hours daily for algae control. Replace bulb annually or after 9000 hours.

Maintenance Indicators: Reduced flow indicates clogged media; cloudy water suggests UV bulb may need replacement.

Connecting to Pond/Aquarium

Standard setup: Pump submerged in pond → inlet hose → filter → outlet hose → waterfall spillway.

  1. Turn off power before making connections.
  2. Use hose clamps on all barbed fittings to prevent leaks.
  3. Position waterfall spillway above water level for aeration effect.
  4. Ensure inlet is free of debris and has a pre-filter if needed.

Tip: For best performance, place pump opposite the waterfall return to maximize circulation.

Operation

Daily operation is automatic once set up.

  1. Power on: Switch on POWER for pump; water should flow within 10 seconds.
  2. UV schedule: Set timer or manually switch UV ON during daylight hours.
  3. Flow monitoring: Check waterfall strength daily; adjust if needed.
  4. Water quality: Test pH, ammonia, nitrite weekly during initial 4-6 week bio-cycle.
  5. Shutdown: To stop, switch off power. For winter, drain and store indoors if freezing expected.

WARNING! Always disconnect power before servicing. Do not look directly at UV light when on.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance.

CAUTION! Unplug unit before cleaning. Never use detergents or chemicals on filter media.
