Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Choose mounting location with clear view of traffic.

  1. Select Mounting Type: Permanent pole or portable tripod.
  2. Assemble Mounting Hardware: Use provided brackets and bolts.
  3. Position the Sign: Ensure radar sensor is aimed at approaching traffic, 3-6 feet above ground, at a slight angle.
  4. Secure the Unit: Tighten all bolts and brackets securely.

WARNING! Install away from obstructions. Ensure the sign does not obstruct driver sight lines. Follow local traffic regulations.

First-Time Setup

Power on the unit; access the programming menu.

  1. Set Speed Threshold: Program the speed limit for the zone. The display will flash when exceeded.
  2. Set Display Mode: Choose constant display, flashing, or blank until triggered.
  3. Set Sensitivity: Adjust radar sensitivity for vehicle detection range.
  4. Set Data Logging Interval: Choose how often speed/volume data is recorded.

CAUTION! Program settings before final installation. Use two people when handling the sign assembly.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Access programming menu via MENU button on control panel.

Menu Structure: SPEED LIMIT, DISPLAY MODE, SENSITIVITY, DATA LOG, SYSTEM INFO, RESET.

Speed Limit: Set value (e.g., 25 MPH). Display Mode: ON (always on), FLASH (flash when exceeded), TRIGGER (on only when vehicle detected). Sensitivity: LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH for detection range. Data Log: INTERVAL (1 min, 5 min, 15 min), DOWNLOAD. System Info: Firmware version, battery voltage (if solar). Reset: Clear data or restore factory defaults.

Connecting Power

Primary: 12V DC power adapter. Optional: Solar panel with charge controller.

  1. Turn off unit before connecting power.
  2. Connect 12V DC plug to power input port on rear.
  3. For solar: Connect solar panel to designated input, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Power on the unit. The display should initialize.

Tip: For solar installations, ensure panel is oriented for maximum sun exposure and free of shade.

Programming & Operation

Unit operates automatically after setup.

  1. Normal Operation: Displays approaching vehicle speed. Flashes if over preset limit.
  2. Change Settings: Press MENU, navigate with arrow keys, enter values, press ENTER to save.
  3. Test Mode: Use to verify radar detection and display functionality.
  4. Sleep Mode: Can be programmed to turn off during low-traffic hours.

WARNING! Do not aim radar sensor directly at large metal objects or other radar sources to avoid interference.

Data Retrieval

Download logged speed and traffic volume data.

  1. Connect USB cable (or serial cable) from sign's data port to computer.
  2. Use provided software or a terminal program to initiate download.
  3. Data is typically in CSV format for analysis in spreadsheet software.

Care & Maintenance

Periodically inspect and clean.

CAUTION! Disconnect power before performing any maintenance. Do not open the electronics enclosure.
